Arbeitsgruppenleiterin: Dorothee Atzler, PhD

Dr Dorothee Atzler is a group leader at the Walther Straub Institute of Pharmacology & Toxicology and Institute for Cardiovascular Prevention at Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität (LMU) Munich, Germany. After graduating in Pharmacy, she obtained her PhD on Pharmacology and pursued a postdoctoral Marie Curie Fellowship at the Department for Cardiovascular Medicine, University of Oxford.

Her interest in the role of amino acids and cell metabolism in cardiovascular disease with a focus on the pathogenesis of atherosclerosis aims to combine experimental and clinical approaches for translating her findings. This research has been widely published and acknowledged by several awards and grants. Dr Atzler is also active in research coordination and has initiated the early investigator network of the German Centre for Cardiovascular Research (DZHK), the ‘Young-DZHK’, which she has since chaired. Dr Atzler is member of the ATVB Early Career Committee to foster international collaborations between early career networks across the cardiovascular research community.
